If the engine temperature is around 190 degrees, why is it not blowing hot air for the heater?

This is a question on a 2001 VW Passat v6 4 motion.

Check the fluid LEVEL in the radiator. If it's low it will still cool the engine but will not circulate in the heating system.

Besides the fluid level in the radiator you could also have air bubble in the cooling system, which could restrict the coolant flow through the heater core.
