MIL light came on and checked it out to be DTC P1404 and found it to be a EGR issue and to fix the problem I replaced the EGR valve with a new one and then cleared the codes from the memory, I then drove the van for about 35 miles and went in to get it smogged and it passed with no problems , But on my way home from test the MIL light came back on with the same DTC P1404 what the heck ?, the only other things that were mentioned are the IAT sensor and the possability of the PCM needing to be re flashed , have you ever heard of this before?.....

Vehicle: 2000 GMC Safari engine code #W 4.3 ltr. miles 98765.

Sometimes the EGR pipe (besides the valve) needs to be cleaned. If everything is clean I did read something about the computer falsely thinking the egr valve is not closed, so it may need to be programmed.
