Is OBD capable of doing this?

I have found bits of evidence around the internet saying it is possible, including products widely advertised and shipping from China for a specific model which locks/unlocks doors.

Yet I've also found other forums where this question is asked refuting the potential.

I undertsand that some fear negative intentions of those asking such questions related to locking mechanisms.

Simply put, I don't want to spend and can't really afford $30 - $60 to purchase a remote for my Honda CRV 99 that is such a relatively simple device - its such a ripoff.

Iw ould really love to see this port taken advantage of in future products - I wouldn't mind being the guy to make that product - and so I aks.

Can the OBDII port lock/unlock a car door?

Thank you very much

Not on a 1999 CRV. Possible in some of the new models 2011 and up. Even if you can lock/unlock through the OBDII port, most vehicles require to have the key ON to access most of the stuff through the OBDII port. So how can you unlock.luck with the key ON?
