I am getting code P0446 on my 2000 Toyota Tacoma Prerunner V6. Replaced gas cap (per auto zone code reader/ tech). light still on over a week. How do I make sure correct gas cap was sold to me?

These codes aren't just for the gas cap. There can be several reasons for the evap leak, the gas cap is the least expensive place to start. Since the light is still on the truck should have a smoke test done to it to locate the leak in the rest of the system.
