Code P219B Description

The Fuel Trim Cylinder Balance diagnostic detects a rich or lean cylinder to cylinder air/fuel ratio imbalance in each bank. The diagnostic monitors the pre-catalyst heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) signal's frequency and amplitude characteristics by calculating an accumulated voltage over a predetermined sample period. An imbalance is indicated when multiple samples of the accumulated voltage are consistently higher than the desired value.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when multiple samples of the pre-catalyst HO2S accumulated voltage are consistently greater than the desired value.

Discuss the causes and fixes for P219B OBDII Code

  • Is this typical for an engine that was rebuilt 3 months ago on a gmc 2013 Yukon xl

  • No, there shouldn't be any codes.

  • I get this code after I drive 200 miles as I did have my intake done since then the engine lights came on .As if I drive around town the light will not come on but if I drive my truck for a long distance it comes on. As I know the code is P 219b

  • Intake leak are probably the most common problems that can trigger that code. What model and year is your vehicle? I can check if there is something else.

  • My truck crew cab year is 2010 4.8 LT Model is LT as it is the bottom of the line. As I just came home to day and did over 300 miles all was good but as soon as I took it up the 70 for 15 mins the light came on. As the engine light will go off in a few days all by it self.I was going to take it to a Dealership to see if they can help me at all.

  • I think so to about the intake, the one thing that I do not under stand is why the light goes off , but the again I know very little about engines.

  • Unfortunately there no bulletins, recalls or any history of this problem. My only recommendation is to try using a different gas for a couple of weeks and try a fuel injector cleaner.

Also, have you replace the O2 sensors lately? There is a note on the manual that the system is very sensitive to aftermarket heated oxygen sensor (HO2S) design.

  • My truck is a Ls 4.8 with 206.864 KIL year is 2010, as I just Exhaust manifolds fixed as i had 3 broken studs since then the light has been on . As I am no Mechanic i think it is an leak. As I need to heat up the engine for the light to come on.Since it is the winter time it does cool down fast

  • I have put better gas in as the Dealership said that is a wast of your money 2 sensors and had it scanded it over 8 times as i have the same code ,so i have put injection cleaner and GS-X as i drove my truck 18 hous south . ASi fi d this sad that GM can sell you a truck but has no idea how to fix my code P219B. As i must be the only person with this Code.

  • I did find out two things as number 1 there was no one in CANADA that could help me as this was $1.000 to get it fixed as there was no luck. I do have friends in the USA that work on cars and trucks as the fix was the dipstick as it has been removed . As it was sucking air into the engine block when warm. As the Garage in Canada as they did not replace it right as they did not put any Silicone at the bottom of the dip stick. But thanks to all.
