Code P0797 Nissan Description

The Pressure Control (PC) Solenoid Valve an electronic pressure regulator that controls transmission line pressure based on current flow through its coil windings. As current flow is increased, the magnetic field produced by the coil moves the solenoid’s plunger further away from the exhaust port. Opening the exhaust port decreases the output fluid pressure regulated by the PC solenoid valve, which ultimately decreases line pressure. The line pressure solenoid valve regulates the oil pump discharge pressure to suit the driving condition in response to a signal sent from the Transmission Control Module (TCM).

I agree. In the case of my friends 05 Maxima it was low on fluid and filthy. It only threw the code once. I cleared the code and it didn't come back. He's getting the fluid changed this week.

Where is solenoid c located in Nissan maxima 2005

The solenoid is attched to the transmission valve body and the valve body is inside the transmission.

What model and year is your Nissan? On most Nissan vehicles, the transmission solenoids are inside the transmission.

Yes. There are many reasons why the valve can get stuck. If the problem is mechanical or low fluid, then along with the stuck valve, there may be other failing components, even though the scanner only shows the P0797 code.

I was going down the road and it seems like it went in neutral.Check engine light came on and this was the code. No forward or reverse. Would replacing this solenoid possibly get it going? 2005 Nissan Maxima

Start by checking the transmission fluid level and condition. If the fluid is low and dirty, then you could try changing the fluid (no transmission flush). If the problem persist, then I recommend having a transmission shop inspect the transmission.
