Code P01CF GMC Description

The Engine Control Module (ECM) has the ability to learn injector timing performance. When the engine is at operating temperature, throttle closed and in deceleration fuel cut-off mode, the ECM will pulse each injector individually and measure the changes in rotational speed of the crankshaft using the input from the crankshaft position sensor. The ECM will run this diagnostic at one fuel rail pressure operating point for each injector. The ECM stores the injector timing value. The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the Fuel Injection Timing is out of range.

Frequently Asked Questions about P01CF GMC Code

1. What does the OBDII code P01CF mean on a GMC vehicle?

P01CF indicates that the Engine Control Module (ECM) has detected that the injection timing for cylinder 3 is retarded or delayed beyond the acceptable range.

2. What are the common symptoms of the P01CF code in a GMC?

Symptoms may include engine misfires, reduced fuel efficiency, rough idling, decreased power, and the Check Engine Light being illuminated.

3. What causes the P01CF code to be triggered?

Potential causes include a faulty fuel injector, problems with the injector wiring or connector, a malfunctioning ECM, low fuel pressure, or carbon buildup in the injector or cylinder.

4. Can driving with the P01CF code cause damage to my GMC engine?

Yes, prolonged driving with this code can cause further engine damage, reduced performance, or potential damage to other components like the catalytic converter.

5. How is the P01CF code diagnosed in a GMC vehicle?

Technicians typically use an OBDII scanner to retrieve the code, inspect the cylinder 3 injector and wiring, test fuel pressure, and perform a visual inspection for carbon deposits or mechanical issues.

6. How do I fix the P01CF code on my GMC?

Repairs may include replacing or cleaning the cylinder 3 fuel injector, repairing damaged wiring or connectors, ensuring adequate fuel pressure, or reprogramming the ECM if necessary.

7. Can low-quality fuel cause the P01CF code on a GMC?

Yes, low-quality or contaminated fuel can lead to injector issues or carbon buildup, potentially triggering the P01CF code.

8. How much does it cost to repair the P01CF code on a GMC?

The repair cost can vary depending on the root cause but typically ranges between $150 and $500 for cleaning or replacing the injector and addressing related issues.

9. Is the P01CF code specific to GMC vehicles?

While the code can apply to other manufacturers, it is more commonly associated with GMC vehicles and their specific engine configurations.

10. Can a software update resolve the P01CF code on a GMC?
