The heated oxygen sensor 1 signal is sent to the Engine Control Module (ECM). The ECM adjusts the injection pulse duration to achieve the ideal air-fuel ratio. The ideal air-fuel ratio occurs near the radical change from 1V to 0V.

  • I have a 2004 BMW 325i E46 with the M56 Engine. I don't have a PCV system but am getting a P0411, and a P1411, along with the occasional P0301,0302,0303, misfire codes and the P0153. I have just ordered a new MAF Sensor, and tested the Vacuum control unit going to the check valve before the Air pump. All seem to be working properly. Next I will test for an open wire, or short in the harness and am replacing the Bank 2 sensor 1 Oxygen Sensor tomorrow. I will follow up with the results in a day or two. Any suggestions beyond what I've listed would be appreciated. Thank you.

  • Unfortunately I haven't had that problem, but I checked a national database of repairs and for the P0411 and P1411 codes on your model year, the most common cause is the Air Injection Pump.
