My car has This code and when I try to start my car the first press wakes it up and the second push actually starts it which makes no sense my car never did that. It has a transmission malfunction and it will not come out of Park unless I manually override it and stillln then it doesn’t say it is in drive or anything the cluster screen just has a transmission fault light and no D or P or anything. Also it has a lightbulb light but I don’t think that means shit it is an 328xi 2007. 160K mils

Do you have any other codes? have you done any repairs lately? the U0100 code only means that there is no communication to the Engine Control Module (ECM), but it doesn't specified which is the other component.

Unfortunately the factory service manual does not offer more information, other than the code description, but based on that, it looks like the ECM is not communicating with the Transmission Control Module, that may also explain the transmission problem.
You could start by checking the transmission control module and ECM connection. Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight as well.
