For the P1382 code to comeback, I have only seen a few bad aftermarket distributors and another one with a broken wire from the distributor to the ECM.
I'm not saying that all aftermarket distributors are bad, but could have got a bad one.

I used an aftermarket distributor. The code comes on as soon as I turn on the engine is there anyway it could be my crankshaft position sensor causing P1382? I will do a test to make sure I am connected to the computer. Any advice?

I will try it out and get back to you but on my Acura CL there is also a crankshaft position sensor near the timing belt. Do you see that the aftermarket distributors cause this code a lot? By the way the car is running fine but the code keeps coming back up.

is there anything else at all that can cause the code to come up. A while after the code came up my timing belt snapped and I replaced it if that is useful to know.

I ask a few friends from the dealer, but unfortunately, other than the distributor we haven't seen anything else causing that code. The next step is to check the wire from the distributor to the ECM.

Hi im having the same issue with the code p1382 on my 2002 honda accord i replaced the entire distrubuter twice and i still have the same problem same code i checked everything wires ,spark plugs,compression and fuel injectors but nothing same problem its gotta be something else that can cause that p1382 code to keep coming up the only thing i didnt check was the relay

I have am 2001 honda accord 2.3 5spd. I get p1382 (crank position sensor no signal) and p0420 (catalyst system efficiency below threshold) I just replaced distributor with new one from Autozone ($260). When I got the car it had receipts for cat convert changed and distributor 6 months prior to me getting it.
Any ideas? -
I have a 2001 accord 4cyl. It keeps frying distributors, resulting in p1381 or p1382 codes. I have fried 3 cheap but new distributors and fried a new expensive hitachi unit. I have checked for shorts and bad grounds with an ohmmeter and can't see any issues. A new distributor runs ok for awhile then something causes it to throw a code over and over. I have no idea what to check.

Strange case. Try adding a ground wire from the battery negative terminal to the sensor ground. (G101 on the image below)

I have added a ground as you described. I also replaced the distributor and and Camshaft position sensor in the head. I am still receiving a P1382 error code. I have replaced 4 distributors so far and I am certain the distributor is not at fault. I have completed voltage drop testing and all systems test within spec. What can I try next?
