2008 Jeep Commander. Code reading is P0987, Transmission Fluid Pressure sensor/Switch E Circuit. Check engine light is on. Three times in the past 2 months I've had to pull off the road when starting because the vehicle acts like it's not in gear. I stop, put it in park, and then back into gear. So far this has worked every time. But it's like it doesn't want to catch the gear. Any idea what the code means???? How to repair it????? Does the problem I've had have to do with the code?????

You could start by inspecting the transmission fluid level and condition. If the fluid level is OK and the problem persist, you may have to have a transmission shop inspect it for you.
