06 vic po455 and po457. Changed gas cap with no avail. Whats next? I see some exteriorly corroded vacuum lines up top passenger side going to a small device. What is that device called. Refer to picture. Thanks

mine was the worn evap hose, but I also replaced the spark plugs, so not positive which did it but the code is gone.

This code came up today. A few weeks ago I got a Check Fuel Inlet alert that went away. I assume these could be related? The alert went away, but the check engine light is on and I'm trying to avoid the $99 diagnostic fee. My car doesn't have a gas cap - it's one of the ones that seems to snap shut when you pull the fuel nozzle out.

How is the gas cap? usually the problem is just a loose or missing gas cap. Re-tight the gas cap and clear the code.

I got the "check fuel Cap" warning a while ago and now the gas odor is too strong. The Engine light has been on before that due to some other reason (Exhaust System Lean). A Mechanic checked it and found the P0457 code and told me that the fuel vapour is trapped inside the tank and is not coming out with the exhaust because of some faulty valve in the tank that needs replacement. He said this can be either reached from inside the vehicle between the back seats if we are lucky or we have to take the tank out completely ... and that will require it to be empty first. It is a Ford Windstar 2002 van. Any suggestions? Should I try replacing fuel cap first?

P0305, P0300, P0306 These codes are for cylinder misfire and could set the other codes as well. If you haven't changed the spark plugs lately, you could start with that. If possible, use high octane gas or a couple of weeks.
