Code P0106 Hyundai Description

The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the pressure inside the intake manifold. Pressure in the intake manifold is affected by engine speed, throttle opening, air temperature, Barometric Pressure (BARO) and if equipped, turbocharger output. A diaphragm within the MAP sensor is displaced by the pressure changes that occur from the varying load and operating conditions of the engine. The sensor translates this action into electrical resistance.
The MAP sensor wiring includes 3 circuits. The Engine Control Module (ECM) supplies a regulated 5 volts to the sensor on a 5 V reference circuit. The ECM supplies ground on a low reference circuit. The MAP sensor provides a signal voltage to the ECM, relative to the pressure changes, on the MAP sensor signal circuit. The ECM converts the signal voltage input to a pressure value.
Under normal operation the greatest pressure that can exist in the intake manifold is at ignition ON, engine OFF, which is equal to the BARO. The lowest manifold pressure occurs when the vehicle is idling or decelerating. The ECM monitors the MAP sensor signal for pressure outside of the normal range.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ECM determines the MAP Sensor is stuck within the normal operating range. It accomplishes this by running 3 different models within the software to determine the values.

  • I have a 2011 Hyundai sonata engine light came on 2 weeks ago and yesterday I've replaced both of the O2 sensors. I have also replaced the spark plugs and all air filters because it is 116K already. when I first start the car check engine light was gone, but after I restarted the check engine like came on. We use the code reader and i got a different code P0106. we checked all the connections was fine. Please advice.

  • Clean the throttle body, error from MAP senor actualy from the throttle body. But not hurt to replace the MAP as well.

  • I Have same car, had same problem. Diconnected map sensor connection and reconnected...1 min work, no $$ and engine light off; has been great ever since.

  • Have 2011 Sonata 2.4 Engine: The engine light, coincidentally, came on last night after I picked it up from the dealer (replace the steering wheel coupler). I disconnected the battery to erase memory, but it came back on when I turned the car on. So I took it back this AM and they did the code scan .... the PO106 code came up, of course they said it had nothing to do with what they did ... anyways, they erased the code but warned me that it might come right back on, which it did. They also wanted me to bring back to fix it; But came home and searched the web and saw this discussion. Went outside, removed the sensor (disconnected battery 1st), wiped it with a babywipe (didn't have cleaning spray, and it's cold as hell outside, so wipe had to do) and put it back on. Turned car on, and waited ... no engine light. If it comes back within the next week I'll post an update.

    Update (11/27/17): Replaced sensor...light came back on as soon as I turned on the car. So went ahead and removed the throttle body and cleaned it. Put it back on and no light; left it running for about 15 min and no light. So decided to put back the original sensor and turned on the car..no light. Left in running for 15min and no lights. It has been two days and I have ran the car hard and far distance (several hrs drive) and no light. So it looks like it was the throttle body. Will update again if the light comes back on. Thanks.

It jerks while in motion sometimes and sometimes doesn't accelerate while in motion (engine sound goes up like you have the gear in parking and you are accelerating and will suddenly come back on to normal)

  • P0106 Fehler Hyundai IX35 /2L /2010 MAP ern. Drosselklappe zuvor gereinigt mit Reinige dafür. keine Änderung am Motorlauf, Drehzahl schwangt auf und ab, Motor geht während der Fahrt aus egal
    ob 20 Km/h oder 150 km/h, startet danach schlecht, Erster Startversuch kein Erfolg erst bei Zweiten springt er sofort an. das Problem ist bei Benzin und LPG-gas das Gleiche. mehrmals gingen sämtliche Warnlampen an nur war nie ein Fehler hinterlegt als P0106. werde das Steuergerät überprüfen lassen. somit hat dieser Code nicht viel gebracht. ach die einzelnen Zündmodule habe ich auch gewechselt, da bei der Prüfung ein def. festgestellt worden ist, leider waren die vier Neuen Zündmodule auch def. und wurden ausgetauscht von dem Hersteller. Nun geht immer noch die M0torwahrnleuchte an. So geht die Suche weiter. Vieleicht hilft es jemanden.
