Code P0106 2010 Hyundai Sonata Description

The Manifold Absolute Pressure (MAP) sensor measures the pressure inside the intake manifold. Pressure in the intake manifold is affected by engine speed, throttle opening, air temperature, Barometric Pressure (BARO) and if equipped, turbocharger output. A diaphragm within the MAP sensor is displaced by the pressure changes that occur from the varying load and operating conditions of the engine. The sensor translates this action into electrical resistance.
The MAP sensor wiring includes 3 circuits. The Engine Control Module (ECM) supplies a regulated 5 volts to the sensor on a 5 V reference circuit. The ECM supplies ground on a low reference circuit. The MAP sensor provides a signal voltage to the ECM, relative to the pressure changes, on the MAP sensor signal circuit. The ECM converts the signal voltage input to a pressure value.
Under normal operation the greatest pressure that can exist in the intake manifold is at ignition ON, engine OFF, which is equal to the BARO. The lowest manifold pressure occurs when the vehicle is idling or decelerating. The ECM monitors the MAP sensor signal for pressure outside of the normal range.
The Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) will be set when the ECM determines the MAP Sensor is stuck within the normal operating range. It accomplishes this by running 3 different models within the software to determine the values.

Again I disc the cables and the ck engine light turned off but again turned on. Drove close to 75 miles and still on. I went back to Autozone this morning and when they attached the code reader the light turned off. I drove less than 1/4 mile and it is on again. PLEASE HELP!

  • I checked a national database of repairs and unfortunately, other than MAF, there are no other repairs for that code. My recommendation is to drive it more, if after few days you can clear the code, then you may have to have the dealer inspect it for you.

    I have had the P0106 error code turn on and off every other week now for over 6 months +. I have installed 2 new MAP sensors on my 2010 Santa Fe, but this hasn't fixed the issue yet. There are no vacuum leaks, and the throttle body is clean. The symptoms are random, some days at idle the RPM pin goes up and down while at a stop light, and some days there are no symptoms.

    What could the issue be? I see online some people say it could be the TPS?
