OBDII Pending And Active Codes

What is the difference between OBDII Pending and Active Codes??

When a system or component fails, the ECM/PCM sets an OBDII code. Some systems require a specific number of failures to set the Engine Light. When the OBDII Code is "Pending" the system or component failure has not reached the amount of occurrence to set the Engine Light and to be considered "Active."

Pending Code: The system or component have not failed two or more times for the ECM/PCM to set the Engine Light.

Active Code: The system or component do not require failure two or more times to set the Engine Light, or the system or component have failed two or more times.
