Can I clean the cannister myself? Will that solve the prob? Nissan replaced the cannister once and cost me $ 600!

This is for the vent control valve attached to the canister. Not the canister itself. This simply snaps into the canister. If you are having issues only after dusty roads, then check the connector to the valve. It is likely getting full of dirt and causing the problem. The valve itself may also be sticking.
