What does it mean when the check engine soon starts flashing on a 1998 Ford Windstar 3.0L? I got the code P0401

Usually when the light is flashing it indicates a cylinder misfire that can cause damage to the catalytic converter. if you have the P0401 code, this is not the cause for the light flashing
