2001 Chevrolet Astro Van 4.3L V6 with engine code P0453, how do I fix it?

This code is for the fuel tank pressure sensor, however the sensor itself may not be the problem. What it means is there is to much pressure building up in the fuel tank. This can be caused by a faulty vent control valve or a purge control that isn't pulling vacuum from the tank to get the fuel vapors out of the tank and the charcoal canister.
