P0351 FORD Taurus Limited X (2008 6 cylinder coil over plug style)

Question

had very rough idle and threw code p0351. bought new coil and installed over plug for A position. still not fixed. not getting spark on ignition coil (left rear/passenger side when standing in front of engine row of plugs). idle changes when all other coils are unplugged from system except A position (new coil).
I have no idea what to check next -------- car has 90000 miles and plug to coil does not show signs of burnt contacts.

Hi there,

If the coil isn't firing with a new coil, you will have to disconnect the PCM and check for a broken signal wire. If you don't find the broken wire, then the PCM could be at fault. You do this with a volt meter on the ohms setting and check for continuity on the wire when disconnected from the coil and the computer.
