02 VW Passat was running fine, no issues. Out of the blue the car started shaking, loss of power, still running and dash board lit up. I pulled over and shut it off. Not knowing anything about this car as I had only recently purchased it and in general about cars, I checked the oil and it was bone dry. No warning indicators prior. I added 2 quarts synthetic oil and restarted and let run for 5 mins with no change. Left her overnight. Next day she started up with no shaking and full power so I then checked for codes, P0301 cylinder 1 misfire & P0201 injector circut open cylinder 1. Then cleared codes. She ran fine like normal no check engine lights, nothing. Drove it, shut it off. Started back up 5 hours later, ran fine. Decided to put Techron fuel injector cleaner in it thinking maybe a clogged fuel injector, stopped at auto parts store turned it off added injector cleaner started it up and the problem started all over again.
Very baffled about the oil.... Could it be related? I need to get it fixed but nearest auto shop is 20 miles away. I don't want to harm her by driving it with misfire as to not cause further costly repairs. Single Mom, hard enough financially ! Not sure what to do. Any advice on how to fix the problem ? Please help.

Hi there,

P0201 indicates an issue with injector 1. P0301 is a misfire on cylinder 1. This all indicates a problem with the fuel injector on cylinder 1. This has nothing to do with the oil consumption. Here is some info for the P0201 code. You should be fine to drive the car to get it repaired but not for leisurely driving.
