2006 Toyota Hilux 2KD 2700cc with engine code P0117 and engine overheating

I have a Toyota Hilux pickup model 2006 with a 2KD engine. This engine read P0117 in the scanner. When we read the voltage for the ECT sensor supply we found it 7vdc will it affect engine overheating and performance in general?

Hi there,

This code indicates an issue with the coolant temp sensor. Here is a list of possible causes. The coolant temp sensor only reads the temp of the coolant. It doesn't cause overheating.
