2004 Cadillac SRX 3.6L with engine code P0303, how do you narrow down the misfire?

HI there,

There are a couple of quick tests you can do to try and locate the cause of the misfire. First, take the #3 ignition coil and swap it with one of the other coils. If the misfire moves with the coil, then you know the coil is the problem. Another test is with the engine running, take some carb cleaner and spray it along the intake manifold. If the idle smooths out or the speed increases, then you have an intake manifold gasket leaking.
