2015 RX 450H Check Hybrid System code P0A0F and internal motor damage

Question

2015 RX 450H low oil message and then Check Hybrid System message came on. I delivered the vehicle to dealership (all service on this vehicle has been handled at the original dealer) for repair of both items. Oil pan replaced by dealer due to small hole from road debris that was leaking. Regarding Hybrid Drive code P0A0F was identified by dealer. Dealer receipt indicates they performed a software update to ECM. The dealer detailed the vehicle per my request and returned the vehicle to me as repaired. The engine blew 24 hours/250 miles later. Lexus will not replace the motor under my drivetrain warranty. $22,000 for a new motor.

Should this code have guided the dealer to look for more than a software update to the ECM?
