Temperature gauge was bouncing around yesterday as we were driving around town so we thought that perhaps the thermostat was sticking. Replaced that and then the VTracking lights came on with the P0117 code.

Vehicle: 2006 Toyota 4Runner V6

Low engine coolant can cause this code to appear. Since it overheated I would check for a leak first. Air in the system could cause the temp to fluctuate like this so look for a leak.
