2007 Prius. The check engine light comes on for a while, goes away for a while, then comes back. The engine coolant reservoir empties every time the light comes on and then the car overheats. The overheat goes away if I slow down to about 45 mph, even though the check engine light is still on. I would like some DIY advice. I get a P1150 or P1151 error code. Is the Coolant Heat Storage tank likely bad or clogged? Is the Coolant Heat Storage Temp Sensor or Water Valve coolant flow control valve likely bad? Is there a cooling system clog? Is there air in the line? It confuses me when the system works fine for a while & then doesn't for a while. In my mind, it should either work or not work, right? What would cause the intermittent problem and how can I fix it? I don't want to pay a shop a lot of money.

P1150 Coolant path clogged or coolant heat storage system

P1151 coolant heat storage tank

If the resovoir goes empty, you have a coolant leak. if the system was opened you need to bleed out the air, you do this by opening the bleeder valve , use a clear hose and lead it to the resovoir open the bleeder run

the engine till the air bubbles are gone .
