I got the car 5 months ago as used car. My mechanic scanned it and got p1135 Bank 1Sensor 1 and p1155 Bank 2 Sensor 1 codes. He did some repair work on the exhaust and subsequent rescans did not bring the codes. Recently, I had an accident in which the car skidded off the road into a bush and the exhaust got extensively damaged with grass and leaves tucked into it. Parts of the exhaust like the catalyst, exhaust pot were damaged and replaced. Since then, fuel consumption has gone over the roof and a recent scan has revealed the p1135 and p1155 error codes. I believe its an exhaust problem cos it's uncommon for the two A/F sensors at different locations to go bad at the same time. Also, the p1135 and p1155 codes were present when I first got the car but they disappeared after the exhaust work. Presently, the engine sounds fine and there are no visible leaks except the codes and the very poor gas mileage.
Note: I have relocated from the city to a remote town where there are less competent mechanics so I don't have access to my old mechanic hence my bringing this here.
I will be glad if you can point me in the direction to look in the exhaust so this problem can be resolved.

As a rule of thumb when a 02 sensor is replace , everyone familiar with Toyota suggest all the time that its relay be replace also when a 02 is replaced ,this helps avoid a P1135 and 1155, which is commonly set and most every Toyota, So if you replace a 02 sensor and they suggest that it relay be replace they know P1135 and P1155 will set in a matter of time., listed in the engine fuse /relay box as A/F relay replace it, These code have nothing to do with your exhaust work. Your not the only one that set a P1135 and P1155. Most every Camry at this year set these code.
