The best direction is to have the code, this help point in the direction for the CMP and CKP not synchronizing. Timing belt can set this code or the ECM which may or may not have anything to do with a transmission being installed or it may there are ground wire on the transmission. The code has to be gathered

You need a ECM. there no other way, go to any aftermarket part store you would be able to get one there and make sure ahead of time they can flash in the VIN. Play it safe this is a common code for Dodge and Chrysler , the reason I say aftermarket part store some have a lifetime warranty ,
