On my 2002 Volvo S40 1.9L, loud bang when car downshifts when hot is this the trans range sensor it coded p0705

Hi there

The range sensor can cause this type of problem. Basically it can give false readings to the transmission control module. I would change the range sensor, then if the problem persists have the throttle position sensor tested.
