When the CK ENG LT comes on , it to inform the driver that the vehicle exceeds emission limits, The whole purpose of the CK ENG LT is to protect the catalytic convertor. The catalytic convertor protects the environment from harmful emission emitted from the engine. When the CK ENG LT comes on the ECM substitute the value and maintain fuel control. The ECM will monitor Sensor 2 which is the downstream 02 sensor or catalyst monitor sensor and adjust the pulse width of the fuel injector timing and if necessary the spark timing. The ECM will within its ability protect the catalytic convertor.according to the fuel strategy.
