P0118 code cause pontiac firebird t/a overheating ?

Question

Car is overheating intermitintly due to fans kicking on intermitintly. Code is p0118. Have put new senser in, thermostat, radiator, problem will seem to be fixed then out of no where it comes back. Help!

P0118 ECT (engine coolant temperature circuit) high voltage

Yes this does , when you disconnect the ECT the coolant temperature sensor value is a -40 F. This code condition is mostly caused by the terminal connection that tends to widen out and cause a intermittent code to set
