I have a p0440 on my Chevy impala what does it mean and is it expensive to fix

P0440 Evaporative emission control system malfunction

The EVAP system traps raw fuel from escaping into the atmosphere and draw it into the charcoal canister to be consumed. With this code you should have another code that would point you in the direction of either the vent which is at the fuel tank or the purge which is at the engine, This code does not code by itself.there should be aother code with it.
