2000 VW beetle 2.0 automatic
Trans in limp.
Code p0725/ engine speed sensor circuit malf
I have a new input and output sensor in trans.
All troubleshooting points to crank sensor, but Ive never had a no-start problem. CKP is only a 3 wire. all wiring and connectors look clean. Un-plug sensor and of coarse no start/no rpm signal
Clear code during test drive, shifts then fails back into limp.
Never lose tach signal either
Vehicle: 2000 Volkswagen beetle

P0725 Engine speed input circuit

Use a different scan tool , there is a lot of confusion when dealing with P0725 with VW Beetle, If the scan tool has engine powertrain code and transmission code separately use that type or 7E8 or 7E9 , gather all, P0725 in some case is with the throttle position sensor being outside of range. which will set a P0725 , and the engine speed sensor is not faulty. all code for the engine and transmission has to be gathered.
