Lost acceleration, acted as though transmission wouldn't work - We pulled Code 2135 - it didn't show up as a code for my Sonic, until we changed the model to Chevy Cruze to find out what it meant.  Chevy Cruze currently has a recall for this same problem.  I find out I have to replace the entire throttle/peddle pos sensor/switch because it's all one piece.  My question is does it have to be programmed by a Chevy dealer when installed or can it be repaired at a regular repair shop?
Vehicle: 2012, Chevy Sonic, 1.4 Turbo

This depends when you replace the Electronic throttle control, if the scan tool has the software for the minimum throttle control pedal value to be inputted  and the idle, a regular shop can do this, here the next problem use a different scan tool for gathering the code P2135 is not used by this model.
