I have a 2009 Nissan Versa 1.8L. Have the code 1421 cold start control. how is this fixed? Do I need a new ECM? Or can it be reprogramed? More importantly which is cheaper?

HI there,

This issues probable causes are a lack of intake air volume or the fuel injectors and a possible issue with the ecm. I would start by checking the air filter. simple as it is, if it's plugged or dirty it is going to slow the flow of intake air and cause this problem. You may also need to do a relearn procedure on the throttle body. In most cases a new ecm is not required.
