P0009 Cadillac - how do I know if it just a sensor/solenoid and not a bad timing chain

How do i know if it's a bad timing chain or just a sensor/solenoid?

This is mechanical , with the timing chain, The ECM test for misalignment between both camshaft and crankshaft, if this was a bad sensor you would have a camshaft code, When you set this code the ECM see the camshaft signal and crankshaft signal there nothing wrong with the sensor  the ECM sees a misalignment
