1998 Plymouth Neon 2.0L DOHC with engine code P1298

Question

P1298 trouble code on 1998 Plymouth Neon 2.0L DOHC. I keep getting this code all of a sudden with no runnablity issues other than idle at traffic lights takes about 30-45 seconds to idle down from 2000rpm. 5 speed manual by the way. I don't want to throw money at it. Any advice greatly appreciated.

Hi there,

I am not showing this as a valid code for this model year, however for the running issue with the idle staying to high to long, I would try cleaning the throttle body. The idle should stay high for about 5 seconds when you push the clutch in. It may simply be something sticking in the throttle body due to carbon that is keeping the idle up there for you long.
