2000 Dodge Durango 5.9L with engine code P1281, I was driving home, and my check engine light came on

This code basically means the engine is staying cold for to long. This means either you are low on coolant, the thermostat is stuck open so the engine won't get hot enough or there is a problem with the coolant temp sensor. If it stays cold to long, then the engine won't operate in closed loop.
