P0430 Cadillac -

Question

My 2009 Cadillac STS v8 has the P0430 code when I scanned it. The car doesn't do anything erratic it just fine, the only thing that I do notice am getting a smell from the exhaust which smells like it burning oil is this because of a bad catalytic converter or my cars engine is on its way out

Hi there,

If the converter is failing you will get some strange odors. If the engine is using oil and you have to add then it's possible the oil is causing the converter code. You may have to check the oil and see if the car is using it, if not, then I would suspect the car will need a new converter.
