P0449 Evaporative emission control system / vent control circuit malfunction

If you have a fuel smell that should be addressed first, especially when the engine has a fuel smell there , check the fuel pressure regulator for any fuel that may be leaking at or around the fuel pressure regulator. As for the vent solenoid this is located at the fuel tank area

Here a fuel pressure regulator see if there is raw fuel around that area, you can also when the engine is at idle remove the regulator vacuum hose and check to see if fuel squirts out if it does the fuel pressure regulator is faulty.
