Get intermittent "Check Fuel Filler inlet" message on dash, and/or MIL with P0455, P0457 OBD2 codes.

Was told the Fuel Filler Inlet needed to be replaced, $300-400.
Seems high for what in my opinion is a poorly designed capping system.

Wondering if a lower cost solution exist, such as an after market locking gas cap?

Hi there,

The car needs to be smoke tested for leaks. If this has been done and the filler tube is the problem then a gas cap of any sort isn't going to solve the problem. You could try looking for a used fill tube to save some money.
