P0442 Saturn -

Question

I am getting the P0442 code. I replaced the gas cap, (aftermarket, not from the dealer) and cleared the code. It's back on, and now, when I pump gas, it's really hard to start. After it starts, its runs fine, and will not do this until the next time I take the gas cap off and pump fuel.
What's up with THAT!? Is there possibly a small leak somewhere? Should I purchase a cap from the dealer? I am truly grateful for any help and advise!

Hi there,

This is likely a problem with the purge control solenoid. If it's stuck open, then when you pump gas its allowing the fuel vapors to go into the intake manifold and essentially flooding the engine.
