P0700 check engine light on. I scanned it and shows P0700 transmission?

Hi there,

This code actually only means that the transmission control module has requested the check engine light be turned on. To get to the actual source of the problem, the transmission control module must be checked for codes. This requires a scan tool, not an OBDII code reader.
