all dash gauges went dead while driving on freeway, engine still ran, after turning off engine and restarting the dash gauges came back on ok, check engine light still on, restarted several times, had all error codes cleared, only driven 4 miles since but no error lights on yet.

160,000 miles

4 days ago, the engine would start but only run for 3 seconds then died, restarted 8 times ok but still died in 3 seconds, gas gauge was reading absolute empty, checked gauge fuse and pump relay, seemed ok, still would start and die, let things rest for 20 minutes and then it started ok, gas gauge ok, ended up replacing the fuel pump relay, so far ok.

Vehicle: 1997 dodge, grand caravan, 3.8 litre

This sound like a alarm issue. during the restart, but this would no cause the dash gauge to go dead.unless there is problem with the igntion switch (electrical part).or a aftermarket alarm that was installed then bypassed due to issues. Try this when the engine run just for 3 seconds, then dies  disconnect the battery terminals both side and bring the terminals together for about 30 seconds reconect positve connection first then negative .
