P0741 Cadillac -

Question

I just bought this car about 6 mo.ago. How will this effect my emissions test? What type of price range are we ball parking for this repair? Is it possible to get a waiver on this problem due to the age of the car & cost of the repair? Is it possible to open the trans & fix w/o having to pull the trans, &/or having it completely rebuilt?

Anytime the CK ENG LT is on the vehicle is in a emission violation, the purpose of the CK ENG LT is to protect the catayltic convertor, and the catalytic is to protect the enviroment from harmful emission produced by the vehicle. The only hope the transmission has  is setting a P0741 would be a sticking brake pedal switch. other than that a rebuild is a better solution.Majority of time the TCC is off is due to low transmission fluid pressure, where the turbine shaft seal are worn out. a rebuild is the better option. You can get a waiver for the emission this depends on what state the vehicle is in.
