2006 Mazda Mazda6 Hatchback 3.0L with engine code U0100

Question

My car is a 2006 Mazda Mazda6 Hatchback 3.0L. when its running transmission shifts okay except for 4 to 5 and 5 to 4. it shifts really hard and nudges the car so hard. Once my CEL came on and the code was U0100 and all of a sudden CEL disappeared. but the car still has the transmission hard shift. sometimes it shifts from 6 to 4 for no real reason. please, could anyone tell me what I should do before I break my transmission completely?

U0100 Communication error with PCM

The best way to determine where the malfunction is with the use of a scan tool that will communicate with each module, The modules are the TCM (transmission control module), The ABS (anti-lock system), and the instrument cluster. The module that does not communicate is the module at fault.

 

Fluid level and the condition of the transmission should be the first inspection, A low fluid level will result in harsh upshift, worn fluid can also affect the operation of the shift solenoids
