1999 Mazda Protege 1.8L with code P0745

Question

Hi,I have a Mazda Protege and one month ago the O/D light started flashing.Once I took it to the a mechanic and he sad the problem is pressure control solenoid.I am wandering if is that big issue and how much does it cost me to get it fix it? Would it be safe if I keep driving with it?

The vehicle is safe to drive. This can cause some shift shock and the transmission fluid should be checked because low or dirty fluid can cause this issue as well.
