P0741 - on a 98 olds aurora with 102,000 miles

Can this be fixed without removing the entire transmission? I have been told the transmission needs to be partially disassembled and someone else told me I needed to have the entire transmission rebuilt. Neither of these people have pulled the pan just ran the scan and got P0741.
