Depending on the engine that's in the truck this could be the result of it needing a new distributor cap, rotor and plug wires. Especially if the condition occurs more during wet weather. Other possible issues would be an intake manifold gasket leak, low fuel pressure or a bad mass air flow sensor. All of these can cause issues.
