I went to purchase an O2 sensor, One had a male electrical plug $80.00 another for a different location had a female end $50.00. I bought the cheaper and replaced the connector, could this be a problem? And is it possible to wire the heater circuit backwards since the wires are the same color, I didn't think it mattered which one connected to which. Also, will my car throw a codes just cleared at smog in Nevada

P0154 -02 sensor circuit no activity detected (Bank 2 Sensor 1)

Sensor 1 is the upstream 02 sensor, as long as the heater circuit are connected you should be fine. But it might not work at all. The heater circuit are the black wire and the pink wire it would not matter which way it is hooked up on the heater circuit of the 02 sensor. it the signal wire and the PCM (-) wire that can not be mixed. the signal wire is the purple wire and the PCM (-) is the tan or tan white wire.

Here is a 02 sensor that came in with a P0154 which mean there is no activity with the 02 sensor, As the harness was inspected for open circuit ,what was found was a tape up circuit,

When the electrical tape was unraveled the connector is exposed, this explained P0154. These wire are near heat and proper crimping method  was not used,If you can just use the proper 02 sensor you would avoid other code that would set  Doing a repair like this will cause P0134 to appear or the 02 monitor may not even set.
