I got the P1706 code on my 2001 Honda Civic EX 1.7L, what does this code mean? Would it have anything to do with the torque converter? Or is this an electrical issue with the switch circuit?

Hi there,

The code is for the transmission range switch. This is the switch mounted on the transmission where the cable meets the transmission. The computer isn't seeing any inputs from the switch. In most cases, the switch needs to be replaced to resolve the issue. This has nothing to do with the torque converter.
